April 2, 2008: Newsletter
A warm hello to all our Canishere German Shepherd owners, co breeders
and friends. We are now into April and still snow on the ground. Training
is late getting started and it is very hard to get the show dogs fit in
this kind of weather. I have 2 sad announcements. We lost Jalmark's
Dynasty. She was the beloved companion of Susan Olver. Dynasty would
have been 11 on October 29. She was a SchH 3 girl and produced many
lovely puppies. Our hearts go out to Susan. Also on March 31, 2008 the
world of German Shepherds lost Ann Mesdag from Oregon. Ann was a dear
close friend of mine and Lawrences, She bred German Shepherds
and was a judge as well. She imported dogs from West Germany for us many
times. I will miss her great sense of humour and she was a huge comfort
to me when I lost Lawrence. My sympathy to her family.
We here at Canisphere German Shepherds are very proud so far of our new
stud dog Beppo, he has 2 litters on the ground and they are really
something to be proud of with super attitudes and confirmation. We are
excited that he has been bred to Jana Von Der Freiheit Westerholt one of
our SchH 1 girls and a daughter of VA 1 Yasko vom Farbespiel world seiger. We also have just bred him to SchH 1 Oschie von der Freiheit
Westerholt. This could be our best litter this year, last time she gave
me 2 lovely boys, this time we want at least one girl.
On another note we have placed on co ownership Tatsianna Vom Canispher with Jon Reimer. This young female of only 6 months is a daughter of" V "Rudolf Vom Westervenn SchH1 IPO3 and Babs vom Farbenspiel. She is stunning and will start her show career very soon. We also sent Wonder Vom Godinhofer Weg out to live with our dear friend Wanda Hanson. Wonder needed a little more time than we had to give her. She and the Hanson family have hit it off .
Welcome to all the new owners of Canisphere puppies and we hope to
start spring training soon. Please send pictures of you German
Shepherds for our albums and stay in touch...Till next time in early
May, Team Canisphere says Thank You

January 1, 2008: He made his mark...
His life went to the dogs--and horses--after graduating in theology. He raised champion German Shepherds, including the only dog ever awarded the Bankers Gold Medal for Heroism, and trained dogs for the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry. Not only was he a lifetime member of the Canadian kennel Club, he raised minuature horses and became president of the National Thouroughbred Society.

December 10, 2007: Holiday Wishes
The holiday season is upon us and we are nearing the end of another year here at Canisphere. This has been a very hard year for team Canisphere with the loss of our founder, husband, father and best friend. These past few months have been bearable only because our friends, clients, family and associate breeders have been so supportive.
A promise was made to carry on with Canisphere and continue to raise the best German Shepherds and we are doing just that. We did not attend a lot of shows or trials this year, however next year promises to see us on the road with our new dogs and young puppies. We have added some outstanding dogs to our kennel force including our new stud dog " V" Beppo vom Luttersbruch SchH 3. His first litter will appear in mid Jan of 2008. We are very excited about this boy as he is simply stunning.
We also acquired another daughter of VA 1 Karat's Ulko from Charlie Starr of Drache Feld kennels, Targa will be on the show scene again next year. Wonder vom Godinhofer Weg was purchased from Angelika Landers and added to the bitch force. 2008 at Canisphere will see more progeny from the best bloodlines in West Germany. We will also have surprise addition in early spring so we can compete for Seigren titles.
We will continue to keep our clients happy and informed on upcoming litters and new arrivals from Germany. Our web site will see changes such as more training and health related articles, grooming aids, and of course more pictures and stories from all those who own Canisphere German Shepherds.
On behalf of Team Canisphere Karen, Darci, Cortni, Pat, Linda, Gerry
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all our German Shepherd lovers.
Nov. 18, 2007: Lifetime Achievement Award
The Canadian Professional Handlers Association(CPHA) held it's 17th annual Top Dog Awards Dinner. This black tie event is held yearly to honour the top ten dogs, top handlers, top owners, top breeder and lifetime achievement award. The awards are held in conjunction with the Northwinds Dog Club All Breed Show at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. In the history of the CPHA, the lifetime achievement award has only been award twice posthumously. It was a great honour to be awarded this lifetime achievement award on behalf of Lawrence. This lifetime achievement is a testiment of Lawrence's hard work for the past 40 plus years starting as a handler up to a successful world reknown german shepherd breeder and Canadian kennel Club Judge.
Lawrence Anonychuk was a true dog man. As a professional handler, CKC judge, accomplished German Shepherd Dog breeder and dog trainer for the Winnipeg police force he did it all.
Lawrence bred German Shepherds under the Canisphere prefix for over 40 years. During that span, he not only produced multiple champions and Best in Show Winners, he produced heroes. His dogs bravely served along side RCMP and Ontario provincial Police officers, worked hard as search and rescue dogs and volunteered in their communities as St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs. Lawrence was the breeder of the only German Shepherd Dog to receive the Bankers Gold Medal for heroism.
In addition to his work with dogs, he was an accomplished and widely recognized through bred breeder and trainer. As head wrangler/trainer for the manitoba Motion Picture Industry, Lawrence worked with stars like Richard Gere, Bred Pitt, Casey Affleck, Susan Sarandon and Jennifer Lopez. You will in fact catch a few glimpses of him in the up coming release"The Assassination of Jesse James"
Most importantly, Lawrence was a devoted father, husband and friend. It is indeed a tragedy that he receives this award posthumously.
On behalf of the family we would like to thank the CPHA and Shannon Sheer for this wonderful celebration of Lawrences' career in the dog world.
